Because of Winn Dixie by Kate Dicamillo, Realistic Fiction

A boy and his father live alone. The boy's mother left and never came back. The boy's father is a preacher. One day the boy finds a dog. They meet lots of friends on the way. The end has a twist to it. This book is always on my definite list.
